Interval Training Works Better

Not only is interval training more fun then your standard slow cardio 45 minute session but research is now showing that interval training is also more effective at burning fat!

If you’re not already familiar with Interval Training it works like this:

Let’s say you’re jogging (on a treadmill or on the street…it doesn’t matter), you want to divide your workout into 1 minute intervals. I like to use 1 minute intervals because I use  High Intensity Interval training. Some people prefer 2 minute intervals. Here’s how I do it:

I’ll start out by warming up and stretching out obviously…

When I’m ready I set the treadmill to a very slow jog and I do this for one minute. Once that minute is up I quickly increase the speed on the treadmill to an all out sprint usually somewhere in the 5-7 minute mile range. Once that minute is up, I return the treadmill setting to the “very slow jog” pace to catch my breath. You pretty much repeat that sequence 10 times and that’s it…

Not much to it  but it’s very effective and it’s great for people that are short on time because you can get a good workout in in like 20 minutes.

Stop Drinking Juice and Soda to Lose Weight

Losing weight is actually quite simple when you think about it…

Consume fewer calories then you burn and you’ll put your body in a fat burning state.

The hard part is finding where to cut the calories…

I usually recommend cutting out all the juice and soda from your diet and replacing them with water. You’ll probably shave off enough calories so you won’t have to adjust your diet too dramatically or at all.

Yes ladies that means you can still have chocolate.

How to Lose that Stubborn Fat Around Your Waist

There is a strong misconception out there that doing a ton of sit ups or core-training exercises will rid your waist of that last bit of stubborn body fat and that’s just not true.

The truth of the matter is that the fat around your waist is usually the last bit of fat on your body to go.

The best way to target it is by taking a balanced approach which takes into consideration:

  • cardio
  • diet and nutrition
  • core training
  • resistance training
  • strict attention to caloric intake (you have to put your body into a fat burning mode and in order to do that you’ll have to restrict your caloric intake to less then what you are burning per day.
